Plentong sits east of central Johor Bahru and bridges the gap between the urban manufacturing belt of Tebrau and the port-heavy Pasir Gudang corridor. The mukim hosts a mix of detached factories, multi-storey industrial buildings, and worker accommodation infrastructure that supports the larger Pasir Gudang petrochemical and Tanjung Langsat heavy industrial complexes immediately to the east. Plentong's tenant base skews toward heavier manufacturing — metal fabrication, oleochemicals, marine support, chemical packaging — operations that need both significant land plot sizes and proximity to the port without paying Pasir Gudang industrial estate premiums. The area benefits from direct access to the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) connecting back to the Causeway and the Pasir Gudang Highway running east toward the port.
